Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Approximately 3,500 augercast piles will support the structure. These 125 ton capacity, 16 inch diameter, 45 foot long piles will be installed in two construction phases in 2001 and 2003.
The pile capacity was confirmed by conducting 7 pile load tests: 3 Compression, 2 Tension and 2 Lateral tests. The tests were performed prior to production pile installation. The piles were reinforced with a full-length center bar and a short cage at the top. In addition, a bentonite slurry cut-off wall was installed around the ballpark perimeter.
