U.C. Calhoun Street

Location – Cincinnati, Ohio

This new structure at the University of Cincinnati, which included 4 levels of below grade parking, required installation of an earth retention system to support nearby streets and structures. A permanent soil nail wall was used for the majority of the project, while some areas required a cantilevered drilled-in soldier pile and wood lagging. The total protected face was approximately 38,000 square feet and a maximum cut height of 40’. Also included in the project were foundation drilled shafts, 36” and 48” in diameter and lengths averaging 32’. The subsurface profile consisted of medium stiff clay transitioning to interbedded shale and limestone.
