Location – Danville, Indiana
A new addition to the hospital included two tunnels to be installed. The tunnels extended from the new addition’s basement to an existing basement at the hospital. The tunnels went underneath a portion of the hospital with no basement. Richard Goettle, Inc. designed and installed a temporary soil nailing and conventional concrete underpinning system to prevent undermining existing column footings. The two 50’ long tunnels required 2,000 square feet of supported face.
